Speak [spēk] (verb)

Easy  [ē'zē] (adjective)
Capable of being accomplished or acquired with ease; posing no difficulty; relaxed in attitude.

Speakeasy [spēk'ē'zē] (noun)
A place for the illegal sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks, as during Prohibition in the United States.

“unlicensed saloon,” 1889 (in New York “Voice”), from speak + easy, from the practice of speaking quietly about such a place in public, or when inside it, so as not to alert the police and neighbours. The word gained wide currency in U.S. during Prohibition (1920-1932)…”

The big speakeasy is about words, writing and communication. It’s a place of self expression, proclamation and learning. It’s a space for speaking ‘easy,’ with a certain sense of challenging the norm and maybe – just maybe – being a little subversive.
